  • Research summary

THRIVE is a means of giving high flow oxygen to patients in intensive care units after the breathing tube is taken out. There has been a recent observational study( Dr A Patel et al) showing its efficacy in patients with difficult airways before anaesthesia is given. The aim of this study is to show that its use results in better levels of oxygen in patients coming in for emergency surgery requiring rapid sequence induction.
