Research summary
Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition that causes inflammatory nodules, abscesses, sinus tracts and in severe cases may lead to scarring. The disease most commonly affects flexural areas in the body (i.e. axillae, groin, and buttocks) having a significant impact on the patient’s quality of life. Having an HS-specific quality of life measurement tool has been recognized as a core outcome domain by the Hidradenitis suppuraTiva cORe outcomes set International Collaboration (HISTORIC) consensus group. The aim of this study is to validate the newly developed hidradenitis suppurativa quality of life (HiSQOL) questionnaire. All adult patients attending the dermatology clinic at Cardiff and Vale UHB at Glamorgan House, University Hospital of Wales (UHW) are potentially eligible to participate in the study. This research shall benefit the patients by enhancing their clinical care and in the long term by including these outcomes in research related to HS treatment.
