  • Data collection arrangements

HIC Services provide data users with linked, anonymised information derived mostly from large Population Based Health Datasets, owned mainly by the NHS and the University of Dundee. These are collected and updated in different ways through secure transfer mechanisms agreed with Data Controllers and in some cases HIC augments these (eg adds CHI to missing fields in the prescribing dataset). HIC also provides researchers with secure data collection tools for specific study collection of consented data. The detailed procedures are described in HIC Services SOP 01 HIC Data Security and HIC Services SOP 05 CIB Security, in relation to the data unit within the Clinical Information Bureau (CIB)

  • Research programme

HIC supports a wide range of research across the medical school and beyond, providing data around many disease areas to answer research questions.
