  • Research summary

Helius™ is a commercially available product that automatically records and communicates patterns of medication-taking, physiologic responses, and activities of daily living. The device will be used in this study to monitor medication taking in patients who have persistent blood pressure elevation. Subjects will be directed to wear the Wearable Sensor continuously with replacement after one week, and to ingest one Ingestible Sensor daily, which timestamps a medication taking event, whenever they take their prescribed blood pressure drugs. Ingestible Sensor detections will be downloaded from each Patch after its use, and correlated subsequently with blood pressure determinations that will be made at the time of clinic visits before and at the end of product use. Study staff will review the results from Helius use. This will allow monitoring of adherence of subjects to medication taking and better control of their blood pressure. This data will be collected and descriptively analysed at the end of the study.
