Research summary
The aim of the research project is to investigate if actively heated clothing would to useful for patients with brachial plexus injuries, and if they would be capturing the patients’ requirements for the heated clothing. Swansea University (School of Sport and Exercise Science and the Welsh Centre of Printing and Coating) have developed new technology where heated panels can be incorporated into clothing. The technology has recently been used with elite athletes, and we are now investigating possible applications of this technology in healthcare, such as heated clothing for patients with brachial plexus injuries. We aim to recruit brachial plexus injury patients who are treated at the physiotherapy department at Morriston Hospital to complete a questionnaire which will ask them if they suffer from cold intolerance and if they do if heated garments would be useful for them and what their requirements would be for the garments.
