Research summary
The study forms part of a Phd programme in Midwifery. It will consider whether there is a link between taking vitamin supplements in pregnancy and a reduction in the chance of a woman developing pre eclampsia later in her pregnancy. The study will consist of 2 stages. The initial stage will comprise of sourcing and extracting retrospective data from medical records regarding supplementation status and pregnancy outcome. This will be followed up with collection of prospective data via the use of questionnaires, asking women about their compliance with supplementation. Data from the two phases will not be cross-matched as this is not possible to achieve.
