Research summary
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted significant health inequalities in society which need to be addressed. Patients diagnosed with COVID-19 infection who have persisting symptoms or abnormalities in their clinical investigations may require follow up review in COVID-19 follow up clinics. Attending outpatient review is important to ensure that investigations and treatments can be instituted in a timely manner. This study aims to analyse trends in attendance and non-attendance at the COVID-19 follow up clinic at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Understanding the rates of non-attendance in COVID-19 clinic and the demographics of patients who do not attend their appointments will be important to inform strategies to improve attendance rates among those at greatest risk of not attending. By understanding the characteristics of patients who do not attend COVID-19 clinic appointments, it is hoped that this study will enable us to tailor future follow up services to those most at risk of non-attendance and thereby help to reduce inequalities in healthcare services.
