Research summary
This research seeks to understand and explore the impact attempt of taking your own life has had on, your life and your work and learn from you what has made your life worth living now, following attempted suicide in healthcare staff, with the last attempt being five years or longer. The result of this research hopes to reveal any changes the individual has implemented or experienced and learn what can be done to help others in their journey. We hope that participants ideas and contribution will benefit others in the long run by challenging stigma around suicide and helping us to create a hopeful narrative about this experience.
The research will utilise an anonymous survey to gather initial findings and to inform a semi-structured interview for those participants who wish to take provide more details. The interviews will take an appreciative inquiry approach, focusing on his/her positive experiences and will last 40 - 60 minutes. Interviews will be conducted either face-to-face or online, depending on the preference of the participant. The study will approximately last 12 months.
