Data collection arrangements
The purpose of this programme is to utilise the routine electronic health record data of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) excluding patients who are part of the NHS Digital national data opt-out programme. Data extracts will contain both unstructured data (e.g. free-text in letters and test reports), structured data (e.g. demographics, dates of clinical episodes, numeric data from laboratory tests, imaging) This will not involve the capture of any new data. The data set will include, but will not be limited to:
• Patient history and comorbidities
• Observations
• Pathology test results
• Demographics
• Prescription
• Imaging.
These data extracts will allow for advanced analytics like statistical modelling and analysis, natural language processing, semantic inference, real-time signal processing and artificial intelligence. Confidential data items, such as NHS Number, Gender, Date of Birth and postcode, will only be used to pseudonymise data, and apply the NHS Digital National data opt out.Research programme
We hope to set up a research data extracts, containing pseudonymised data derived from all the electronic health record systems, of Guy’s and St. Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT). We will make data available for researchers that have an honorary or substantive contract with GSTT for research projects which can lead to better and safer treatments and services for all patients.
