  • Research summary

The Global Research on AntiMicrobial resistance (GRAM) project will analyse all of the available data we are able to locate together with scientific information on resistance to antimicrobials (starting with antibiotics) across the world. We will attempt to find all available papers and in country data which includes information on the reasons that people die, patient clinical data, and laboratory data in order to estimate the amount of disease for all clinical syndromes together with the infectious agent and antibiotic drug used to treat the infections for all countries. Using this data we will be able to produce maps of the world showing the change in antibiotic resistance over time and space to help policy makers, ministries of health and government to look at the resistance levels in their country and make decisions with the healthcare professionals in their country. It’s important that this information is shared widely with everyone which includes academics, healthcare workers, policy makers and ministers in order to make informed decisions and choices on the antibiotics available to treat people in different countries.
