Research summary
Hearing aids have a limited life span. A hearing aid user must to change hearing aids every 3-4 years. Based on anecdotal evidence, changing hearing aids is particularly challenging for people with severe hearing loss who use high powered hearing aids. We propose a qualitative study to describe the experience of users of high powered hearing aids making a transition to a new hearing aid. Description of the challenges uses face would allow audiologists and hearing aid designers to address these challenges.
