  • Research summary

This project will support the most vulnerable and inactive residents of Sefton Borough who are deemed to be at risk of requiring long term health or social care. The identified target groups are adults with intellectual disabilities (over 18 years of age) and older adults (over 65 years of age) with or at risk of dementia. By providing the target groups with the opportunity to access bespoke sport and physical activity programmes, the project aims to increase physical activity levels and in doing so reduce the health inequalities currently experienced by these target groups. Additionally, the project aims to reduce social isolation and increase levels of functional fitness, self-efficacy, and quality of life.
