  • Research summary

The treatments that children are offered are based on scientific research. A key aspect of any research is knowing what is important, what matters and what works. We are developing a Core Outcome Set for Glue Ear. A Core Outcome Set is an agreed list of outcome domains that should be reported by all studies investigating a particular condition. There is no Core Outcome Set for Glue Ear in otherwise healthy children at present, but one exists for children with Glue Ear and cleft palate. We are trying to determine whether the Core Outcome Set designed for Glue Ear in children with cleft palate could also be used as a Core Outcome Set for Glue Ear in otherwise healthy children.\n\nDeveloping the Core Outcome Set will ensure better, standardised reporting of future research, and thus better patient care.
