Research summary
The aim of the research will be to recover the experiences of people who have lived through spatial changes on the Gartnavel site, and who in some instances will have directly experienced the most recent changes arising with the opening of the new Gartnavel Royal Hospital. These ‘voices’ of experience will be captured orally, on audiotape and in writing, through transcription of spoken words, but the intention is also to solicit drawings and a photo-montage record. The study will consist of a total of 3 visits where this information will be collected. Efforts will be made to have a sample drawn from the overall population of Gartnavel patients and staff, but ultimately it will be an ‘availability’ survey of those electing to be involved and – in the case of patients – for whom there are no clinical downsides to such involvement.
