  • Research summary

This study is a follow-up study of children referred for management of Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH). The previous study was titled "The dental and orthodontic features, baseline anxiety and quality of life of children referred to a specialist center for management of first permanent molars with Molar Incisor Hypomineralisation (MIH) or Caries" REC reference (15/YH/0110), IRAS project ID (157962). This previous study analysed the dental and orthodontic features, anxiety, and quality of life of children with MIH prior to the provision of specialist treatment. The Participants and the participants' parents/caregivers in the previous study were informed at that time that they may be contacted again in the future for a follow-up study. This follow-up study will analyse the treatment received and changes in self-reported oral health-related quality of life, dental anxiety, and the impact of the condition and treatment on the children and their families. Information regarding the treatment they received at LDI will be collected from their clinical records and the participants will be asked to complete the same questionnaires as in the previous study to investigate if their dental-related quality of life and dentistry-related anxiety has changed. Parents/carers will be asked to complete a third questionnaire using an established tool to investigate the impact the condition and treatment received might have had on the family.
