Research summary
This study aims to follow up a cohort of people with Down Syndrome of 50 years of age, to examine their cognitive,social and educational functioning. The study is a longitudinal one and commenced when the participants were 6 weeks old. It is the longest follow-up of people with Down Syndrome in the world. At this stage of their lives, a major focus of the study will be on how well they have sustained their functioning and the possibility, particularly cogent in this population, of the development of dementia.
