Research summary
Currently, there is no reliable predictor of treatment response in First Episode Psychosis (FEP). Early treatment response is thought to be one of the strongest predictors of subsequent functional outcome in psychosis; also, early responders are less likely to experience further psychotic episodes following illness onset. In order to identify predictors of outcome we will run a single-site feasibility study where participants can participate in all or some of the study components.
Participants will be recruited via ESTEEM clinics and can attend 1-3 study visits. The study will involve collection of routine clinical data, research-specific assessments, collection of blood for immunophenotyping and future genetics studies as well and MRI and MEG. Participants will be followed up to 2 years using their routinely collected data. This will allow us to identify if these assessments can be used to predict clinical outcomes and service use at 2 years after diagnosis.
