Research summary
We have previously conducted a study of patients with Hirschsprung's disease (HSCR) at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) where we explored the long term outcomes in older children and adults affected by this condition. One of the results we produced related to fertility outcomes in women with HSCR; and we feel this needs to be explored in more detail before making any judgements about possible related subfertility.
In order to address this area, we are inviting women with HSCR treated at GOSH as children to take part in a more detailed questionnaire which will enquire into their sexual function and fertility history. We will relate this to the surgical and medical history from their hospital records. In order to have enough numbers within the study to make meaningful statements - we are going to include patients from multiple centres around Europe in the study - this will include partner institutions in Norway, Sweden and Finland. We will compare the results of the patients in our study to data we obtain from women in the normal population who will be asked to complete the same questionnaire.REC name
