Research summary
This study involves interviewing a small group of females(8-10), who initially had a diagnosis of BDP and then after being referred to our diagnostic services get a diagnosis of ASD. This group fall into the overlap area and will have a co-morbid diagnosis of BPD because they: (1) self-harm and have suicidal idealization, (2) have had extensive psychological therapy and (3) have at some point been admitted to a psychiatric hospital. We will interview each individual examining three key areas: self-harm, issues around abandonment and feelings about either diagnosis.
The aim of the study is that the results of this inquiry will help to produce a grid or series of questions to help working clinicians make more accurate differential diagnosis between the two conditions.REC name
