  • Research summary

This study wants to understand more about how hallucinations feel and what circumstances they arise in. This research intends to work with an NHS Early Intervention in Psychosis service to recruit approximately 20-30 service users who experience hallucinations as participants. Taking part in the research should last around 4 weeks from start to finish. Taking part would involve 1 diary, 1 arts-based task and up to 3 interviews to study the feeling of participant’s hallucinations, current circumstances and previous histories. This research includes opportunities to engage with creative expression to share experiences, such as drawing, painting, collage or poetry. Participating in the research is voluntary, participation is in addition to any NHS care; the research project does not involve the trial of any treatments. The research hopes to understand more about experiences of hallucinations in people who use NHS Early Intervention in Psychosis services. The information will be analysed and written up into a PhD Thesis, with hopes to also share the research through methods such as academic publication, team meetings at the NHS research site and conference presentation. The research may help to inform future advances in academic, clinical and public knowledge and practice.
