Research summary
This feasibility study will provide valuable information on the potential for patient recruitment and the levels of appearance-related distress in a sample of patients with a facial deformity.
This study will be cross-sectional in design, this means patients will be assessed at one time point, i.e prior to starting any treatment for their facial deformity. Recruited patients will be given a questionnaire which has been shown to identify the levels of distress in people with a visible deformity.
The data gathered will be used to help design a larger, multi-centred study looking at the issues around the treatment of facial deformity within the NHS.
