Research summary
This is a single centre survey and interview of patients who have already undergone TKR surgery at an elective orthopaedic unit. Post-operative patients invited to take part. Patients who consent will be presented with a short survey (questionnaire). A small sample of these patients will be invited to take part in short semi-structured interview with a medically qualified doctor. The interview will explore their views on TKR surgery and the use of tourniquets. To stimulate discussion, patients taking part in the interviews will be provided with a flow diagram of a theoretical randomised trial and asked to think “out aloud” throughout the discussion. Anonymised notes from the interview will be made by the doctor undertaking the interview.
