Research summary
Most patients with glaucoma are treated with topical eye drops, and many of them will also develop signs and symptoms of abnormalities on the ocular surface, such as dry eye. This research group has developed a short questionnaire, which will help ophthalmologists to rapidly detect such problems in the glaucoma clinic: it helps to assess risk factors, signs and symptoms. This study is a survey about the application of this questionnaire during routine consultations for patients with glaucoma, to rapidly find out if they have, or are likely to have, ocular surface disease (OSD). When the ophthalmologist applies the questionnaire, no additional tests or procedures are performed, and treatment plans are unaffected. The ophthalmologist will collect the data from routine patients and their results will be anonymous. The survey will be applied across seven European countries: United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland, Spain and Switzerland.
