  • Research summary

Nowadays when a patient has a blockage in a heart's blood vessels, doctors will use an invasive technique whereby they place a wire passed the blockage in the blood vessel. The wire has a pressure sensor on its tip which tells the doctor whether the blockage is significant and should be treated by placing a stent, or whether a stent is not needed and medical therapy is sufficient. FFRangio is a software that is meant to give doctors the same understanding on the significance of a blockage. The FFRangio software uses X-ray images taken during the procedure and produces a 3D reconstructed image of the heart’s vessels and blockages. This study will test the accuracy of the FFRangio software compared to the invasive wire.
