Research summary
This study asks what are service users' experiences of face to face versus Telehealth consultations for the delivery of voice therapy using Microsoft Teams?
Using semi-structured interviews, it aims to explore the experiences of patients who have been receiving voice therapy for voice disorders within the Adult Speech and Language Therapy Department in the Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. Participants will have experienced both face to face and Telehealth delivery of therapy as part of a pilot using Microsoft Teams.
Microsoft teams is a unified communications platform that combines chat, video meetings, file storage, file sharing and application integration. This study aims to explore the service user’s experience of both methods of delivery - face to face and remote consultation using the video meeting function of Microsoft Teams- as well as the impact of the integrated therapy resources that they can access for support between therapy sessions. These online materials within Microsoft Teams enable the patient to have access to therapy materials such us:
-Outcome forms
-videos
-voice diaries
- literature which we would give via face to face consultation. This allows the patient to have access to materials whenever they require.Using semi-structured interviews and thematic analysis we aim to find themes that capture the patient's experience and inform future service development.
