Research summary
Clearance was given previous to carry out a mortality analysis of occupational cohort of workers with blood lead level measurements. A UK analysis has been published in Occupational and Environmental Medicine and a pooled analysis of mortality from cohorts form the UK, USA, Finland, Australia and South Korea is underway at the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). IARC would like to extend the mortality analysis to include cancer incidence/registration data as this will provide a more informative analysis, especially for the less fatal types of cancer. Analysis will be via standardised incidence ratios and Poisson or Cox proportional hazards regression modelling.
