Research summary
Despite recent changes to national policy and strategic priorities directing local commissioners to help people with dementia to live at home for longer, there is little research on models of day care, particularly within the United Kingdom.
The proposed study aims to explore current community based day care services for people living with dementia. In particular, we will explore day care services for people who have more advanced cognitive and/or behavioural impairments.
The aim of our study is to work in partnership with service users (both people living with dementia and carers), and also day centre staff, to further our understanding of the meaning, purpose, and value of day care services. We aim to use both interviews and observational techniques to examine the views of all stakeholders involved in day care.REC name
