The study will be a qualitative study involving two semi-structured interviews at two time-points. The first interview will take place between 12 - 18 weeks of pregnancy, and the second interview beyond 28 weeks of pregnancy. All interviews will be conducted via telephone or video call, using Trust approved platform Attend Anywhere. Participants will be recruited from maternity services (the Bright Beginnings continuity of carer team) within Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), a qualitative research method will be used. The study aims to recruit up to 10 participants to allow for attrition at the second time point. The study aims to explore the lived experience of expectant mothers with a high BMI at two time-points during pregnancy. This is an under-researched and neglected area that warrants exploration.
