Aim: To explore the lived experiences and priorities of women affected by FGM, to inform Croydon service development. The results of this study will inform the development of a QoL questionnaire for FGM survivors.

Design: Qualitative study using semi-structured interviews and focus groups, supported by PPI.

    Participants:

15–20 adult women with lived experience of FGM.

5–10 healthcare professionals providing FGM care.

    Methods:

    One-to-one interviews (~60–90 mins).

    Focus group with staff.

Audio recorded, transcribed, thematically analysed in NVivo.

    Ethical safeguards:

    Trauma-informed interviewing.

Distress protocol and access to Croydon FGM counsellor.

    Interpreters and childcare support.

    £50 voucher for participants.
