Research summary
This project will explore similarities and differences in the experiences of groups involved in the NHS Health Check programme across three towns/cities the groups are: patients, health care staff and senior managers. The study will look at how each group’s experience affects the others, how it affects people getting involved with the check, and how managers design services. People from all groups will be interviewed; health check clinics, meetings and staff training will be observed. This information will be tape recorded, written up and analysed using methods that look at feelings and thoughts. Documents such as guidance for staff, clinic paperwork, leaflets and posters will also be looked at and analysed. All participants will be asked to give their consent, all of this information will be kept safely on site at the University of Warwick where only my three supervisors and I will have access to it. The results will be written up as my PhD thesis, journal articles, and this will be shared with the groups who have taken part in order to improve services and increase uptake of health checks.
