Research summary
The research proposes to explore how a first episode of psychosis is experienced. It is intended that the research will continue to expand the knowledge base of post-psychotic Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) by highlighting themes from participants’ experiences which relate to either risk or resiliency factors in the development of post-psychotic PTSD or PTSD-like symptoms. The results could inform future research, intervention development, and provide useful information to assist recovery with this client group.
The proposed study will utilise a qualitative approach where semi-structured interviews will be used to explore themes and information from participants. Participants will be recruited from an Early Intervention In Psychosis service (EIS) in South West London. Male and female clients aged 18 years and over who have experienced a first episode of psychosis and are currently engaging with the EIS service will be invited to participate. Participants will each attend one interview with the CI which will last a maximum of 60 minutes.REC name
