Research summary
Conduct a two part qualitative study focussing on how, when and why doctors embark on conversations about symptoms in final hours to days of life.
Participants will be hospital based medical physicians from a range of specialties with varying experience/seniority/backgrounds.
Part 1 will ask participants to record their anticipated response to a provided vignette depicting a discussion with a family about what to expect as their relative enters the final hours to days of life.
Part 2 will be an in depth qualitative interview focussing on motivations, attitudes and approach to these discussions.REC name
