Research summary
This research will explore the experiences of young people who have a sibling currently admitted to a Child & Adolescent Mental Health inpatient unit. The period leading up to, and including, hospital admission can be stressful for the whole family but siblings may not be included in psychological interventions for various reasons.
Between 6 and 8 young people will be interviewed for approximately an hour and will be recruited via an inpatient unit where their siblings are currently an inpatient. Interviews will be analysed using qualitative methodology which will identify key themes. By interviewing young people about their experiences and understanding of this potentially difficult time, the researchers aim to gain a deeper understanding of how this is experienced by siblings and the support that they may require.REC name
