Research summary
This study will explore service user’s experience of receiving Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) by conducting semi-structured interviews. The sample size is predicted to be between six and eight participants with each participant being interviewed once lasting approximately one hour. The interviews will be audio recorded and transcribed verbatim. The transcripts will be analyzed using the qualitative method interpretive Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The sample will consist of service users whom present with complex mental health difficulties and whom are accessing secondary mental health care services. A gap in research exploring the experience of CAT for people with complex secondary care mental health difficulties using IPA was identified during the review of the current literature.
