Research summary
This study aims to explore the lived experiences of individuals with psychosis who engage in cognitive analytic therapy (CAT) within the National Health Service (NHS) and to answer the question “What are the experiences of people with psychosis who engage in CAT?” The study will use semi-structured interviews with participants to collect information on their experiences. Responses will be kept anonymous. The research team are hoping to find out about the experience of engaging in CAT from people who have psychosis. We are hoping to find out whether people who experience psychosis find CAT helpful or unhelpful, and why? We will also explore people’s experiences of the different parts of CAT and of the therapeutic tools used in CAT, and whether people’s experiences of psychosis were focused on in therapy, and if so, how?
