Research summary
The research proposed is a qualitative study aiming to explore the experiences of young people who are participating in family therapy with a reflecting team. A reflecting team is a group of clinicians who observe family therapy through a one way mirror, and later are observed by the family having their own discussion of things they noted during the family therapy session. There is limited research on how adolescents experience having a reflecting team observe family therapy and the research aims to use thematic analysis to generate ideas about what young people make of their experience, including what they may or may not find helpful about the experience in comparison to current research findings on the efficacy of a reflecting team in family therapy.
