Research summary
Study undertaken as part of an undergraduate degree in medicine (MBChB).
Study design: epidemiological cross sectional study, retrospective survey, = 100 participants, recruitment via Health Visitor run immunization clinics.
Inclusion criteria: women who have given birth = 37 weeks gestation, have babies aged between 8 weeks – 24 months and live within the study postcodes (Aberdeenshire).
The study period: antenatal feeding choice - 6-8 week postnatal check. Duration data collection 4-6 weeks.
Study questions:
- what percentage of women change infant feeding method between intention (antenatal choice) and actual practice at 6-8 weeks regardless of milk type?
- quantify any emotional impact associated with early change infant feeding method, using a pictogram Likert scale?
- quantify time to establish infant feeding method from maternal perspective
- what percentage of women perceive or experience criticism as a result of their infant feeding method
- what percentage of women received infant feeding support
- at what stage do women want infant feeding supportREC name
