Research summary
Clinical data, such as risk assessments, personality measures, and tests of neuropsychological function have been routinely corrected during the assessment of patients who had an in-patient stay at Ty Catrin (a low secure hospital specialising in the care of patients with a Personality Disorder. In addition the hospital records and codes patients’ behaviour such as instances of self-harm, aggression to staff, non-compliance with treatment, etc. This project will take an anonymised version of this database and examine the relationship between these assessments and the patients’ future behaviour. For example, is the assessment of future self-harm and parasuicide (the Risk of Suicide Protocol) actually predictive of such behaviours? Which elements of this instrument are predictive and which are not?
