Research summary
The aim of the study is to understand from a patient's perspective what it is like to transfer from a medium secure hospital to lower security services such as low secure hospitals, locked rehabilitation units or other community placements. This will be done by interviewing patients discharged from Wathwood hospital, a medium secure hospital that is part of Nottinghamshire NHS Foundation Trust. They will be asked about their experience of the transfer process, before during and after discharge and their experience of their care pathway since discharge. A study like this has not been completed before and information gained from this should provide a valuable insight into service user experiences of the transition and provide considerations for improving future transitions.
