This study is exploring self-management of hearing loss content in routine audiology appointments. This means identifying what skill-set and mind-set an individual requires to manage their hearing loss on a day to day basis.
It is important to study this as prevalence of hearing loss is increasing as is the annual cost of hearing healthcare in the UK. If patients are well equipped on managing their hearing loss, it will improve patient outcomes and decrease the burden on the health service.
Participants will include:
1. Individuals aged 18 and over with a hearing difficulties
2. Hearing healthcare clinicians from the NHS.A routine initial assessment/fitting appointment will be audio recorded where. The data will be transcribed and analysed using a conversation analysis tool exploring components of self-managing hearing loss.
