Research summary
The research is aimed at evaluating the use of Paediatric Care Online UK (PCO). PCO is a new, accredited information source for health professionals working with children. It provides immediate, online information to support clinical decision making at point of care. The research will explore whether and how PCO is being used in three of the sites where PCO was launched in January 2016. It is a qualitative study in which data will be collected from NHS staff through interviews and focus groups, diary keeping, and observations of real and simulated clinical practice. While the study is focused on NHS staff, real patients (children) will be observed as NHS staff interact with them. The study findings will inform the further development and implementation of PCO.
