Research summary
Clinics have been set up at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Oncology-Haematology service to help increase clinic appointment availability for patients who are on tablets to treat their cancer. Patients attend these clinics and are seen by an advanced practitioner nurse and or pharmacist. The nurse or pharmacist reviews the patient and if appropriate they can prescribe the next cycle of cancer treatment. A set of protocols are in place which determines when it is appropriate to continue the treatment. The nurses and pharmacists only prescribe treatments as per these protocols. The aim of this project is to determine if patients who attend these clinics are satisfied with the service. We also want to determine if the consultants who refer patients to be seen in these clinics are satisfied with the service. This will be done via questionnaires and analysis of the results.
