Research summary
The purpose of this Investigator Initiated Study (IIS) (Grant-in-Aid) is to compare the fitting success rates of three different designs of senofilcon A soft contact lenses, one trade name available in a single design and the second trade name available in two designs. It will compare actual fitting characteristics and success rates with those predicted by the theoretical values of the Young model for contact lens fitting. Each test article is a CE marked product ie. approved for use in the UK and will be worn for 30 minutes before assessment and then removal.
This will be an approximately 40-60 subject one-day, double masked, repeated measures, non-dispensing study. Participants will wear all three lens designs in each eye in random succession.
The study is planned to be conducted at two sites in England and is being sponsored by Visioncare Research Ltd.
Participants will be existing or potential soft contact lens wearers recruited on the basis of having healthy eyes apart from needing correction for short-sightednness or mild astigmatism. Participants will need to attend the study site on one occasion for approximately 3.5 hours.REC name
