  • Research summary

Storm ID have developed a digital health platform (Lenus Health) which aims to integrate health data from a custom made application (HealthKit Connector) and facilitate sharing of the data between primary/secondary care clinicians, nursing staff and their patients.
The Digital Health and Care Institute funded a project to support the evaluation of the Lenus Health Platform which commenced in August 2017. The primary purpose of this initial project was to assess the feasibility/usability of Lenus Health from both clinician (radiologists, nurses, GP’s etc.) and ‘patient’ (general public participants) perspectives. The results showed that clinicians believed Lenus Health would be a helpful tool to the NHS and that patients monitoring their health parameters over time would allow clinicians to view a more reliable representation of their health, therefore, enabling to provide more efficient care. Participants found the apps straightforward to use, understood the value of the parameters being measured and found the concept of the apps being used to share data with clinicians and reduce NHS contact time as favourable. As this was a pilot trial, healthy individuals were recruited and the perceptions of these individuals may differ from those who have a diagnosed chronic condition whereby they require ongoing clinical care. We aim to implement Lenus Health and the associated application within a sample of secondary care patients and clinicians to assess the feasibility/usability within the NHS setting, as well as to determine the patient/clinician user experience of the platform and provide proof of concept around the data management process.
