Research summary
The study is aimed at improving discharge summaries for people moving from hospital to primary care. It will develop a new evaluation tool to assess the quality of discharge summaries using analysis of an existing dataset of Delphi interviews from GPs. This will be used to assess a sample of discharge summaries for patients with colorectal (bowel) cancer across North West London to determine any themes and trends in the quality of discharge summaries.
This will feed into a wider piece of work that is aimed at improving patient safety outcomes for patients transitioning from hospital to primary care. The study also forms part of a masters thesis.
