  • Research summary

The PrISMS clinic is a new telephone clinic that promotes self-management and addresses survivorship needs of an aging population of myeloma patients. It involves a multidisciplinary team including a doctor, a nurse specialist and a physiotherapist, with wider support from other multidisciplinary team members remotely if necessary. Patients are required to have blood tests and complete a crib sheet stating their symptoms and concerns two to three weeks before the appointment. These are then discussed in the telephone consultation, along with their survivorship needs and how to improve their level of physical activity. Lifestyle advice is given and patients are signposted to useful tools and local services.\n\nThe aim of this research is to evaluate this alternative model of care, in order to provide evidence of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) to support this new patient-centred model of care. It also aims to provide evidence for testing and implementing this model nationally for myeloma survivors in the future.\n\nThe study involves collecting data on PROMs from PrISMS clinic patients, including perceived myeloma knowledge, physical activity and quality of life, and correlating these with their disease status.\n
