Research summary
In this study we hope to develop and evaluate a mobile phone app, which will be used to deliver homework tasks between group-therapy sessions. Completing homework is an important part of therapy as it helps individuals transfer the skills they learn in therapy to their daily lives. Technology could be a good way to improve homework completion, but this hasn’t been tested before in individuals with psychosis. We have developed the app with service users, will firstly test it out for any problems in individuals with psychosis, and then run two, 4-session groups which will help individuals understand social situations. The homework for the group will be delivered via the app. We will ask participants who have completed the group about their experiences of completing homework, as well as noting how much homework they complete. This will help us understand whether delivering homework via an app is acceptable to individuals with psychosis. This is a crucial first step to understand whether such approaches are possible, and if larger studies are needed in the future to develop this technology further.
