Research summary
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBMs) are the most common, aggressive and fatal type of primary malignant brain tumours. To improve success rates, more comprehensive basic and translational research is needed. As the number of available human brain cancer cell lines is limited, our aim is to establish a new panel of novel tumour cell lines from fresh brain tumour specimens of patients at different stages of the disease. We will use these tumour cell lines and archive specimens to investigate the biological and clinical significance of all members of the human epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) family in brain cancer.
