Research summary
This study aims to assess the reliability of trained raters coding doctors' activities during a particularly fast-paced part of a doctor's working day. We will assess the inter-rater reliability of observations made and coded by two different observers using the Work Observation Method By Activity Timing (WOMBAT) to code junior doctors' activity during clinical ward rounds. In a related study, (NOSRES ref 14NS0074) ward round activity is being coded by a single observer. Following WOMBAT quality assurance guidelines we wish to test the reliability of these ratings by training a second observer to use the WOMBAT system and double-coding 12 ward rounds to obtain a measure of observer accuracy.
