  • Research summary

This study is looking at whether a new Dried Blood Spot (DBS) filtercard is useful in the Emergency Department (ED) and General Practice (GP) to screen for the prevalence of Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) in patients with undiagnosed repetitive abdominal pain or angioedema. Participation in the study involves a standard history, examination, and taking of a single research blood sample. This single research blood sample will be equivalent to 18 drops of blood (around 4mls/one teaspoon). This will be applied to the Dry Blood Spot (DBS) filtercard which will be sent for biochemical and genetic analysis at Centogene laboratory in order to diagnose Hereditary Angioedema Disease (HAE) type I/II.
